Moorfields Eye Hospital

We’re thrilled to partner with Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, a UK eye care leader with 700,000+ patient contacts. Recognising the power of immersive VR training they approached Flix after our Palliative Care Conference presentation in Rome. Together, we’ve crafted authentic patient-perspective simulations, letting staff see through their patients’ eyes. Enhancing skills and enriching patient care, we’re supporting Moorfields’ mission for exceptional healthcare.

Goals & Outcomes

Moorfields sought to enhance staff confidence and competence in the care of patients with eye conditions while expanding the reach of their training programs. Through insightful interviews and workshops, we crafted VR simulations mirroring real patient experiences enriched with filters for authentic immersion.

Staff actively participated guided by the ‘WHO’ checklist. Scenarios, portraying good and poor practices from a patient’s viewpoint offered valuable learning opportunities, promoting reflection, and driving more positive outcomes for their real-world patients.

Delivery

Moorfields are currently piloting their simulations across multiple sites and will be soon integrating them into mandatory training for new staff across the trust.

Designed for multiple high-performance headsets, the modules can be controlled by an off-sight facilitator, offering an exceptionally high-quality and truly immersive experiences beyond the training room.

“The scenario’s are clinically credible and many identify directly with the interactions. Clear demonstration of skills help learners link theory to practice and increase the transfer of knowledge and expertise”.
