HMP Whitemoor VR training

HMP Whitemoor VR training

HMP Whitemoor is a category A prison which oversees 500 individuals and is dedicated to staff well-being and growth. After seeing our work on a BBC 1, Inside Out documentary on VR for healthcare they asked us to develop a comprehensive training package focused on prison officer training, specifically addressing prisoner intimidation tactics.

Goals & Outcomes

The project aimed to reduce staff turnover and enhance officer training to effectively handle intimidation threats from inmates, boosting confidence and fostering positive real-world outcomes.

After interviews with prisoners and officers we recommended incorporating a cell search scenario from the prisoner perspective, ensuring a holistic experience for dedicated staff. Our prison immersion provided profound insights into diverse situations, emotions, and an authentic filming environment.

Delivery

It was crucial for HMP Whitemoor to offer secure, easily accessible, singular experiences for their staff.

Typically, these types of training simulations are limited to a single staff member at any one time. Our delivery solution allows a trainer to broadcast each experience for all staff members simultaneously. This service also allows the trainer to monitor usage and behaviour.
