HMP Whitemoor Embraces VR Training

In collaboration with HMP Whitemoor, Flix has produced a series of ground-breaking 360° Virtual Reality training videos to be used within the Prison Service. The three films explore the experience of humility for officers in addition to good practise for cell searches. After eight months of research and development, including interviews with staff and inmates in the unit to ensure the experiences are as real to life as possible, the aim of the training is for officers to be able to put themselves in the inmates’ shoes and reflect on how they interact with and treat them on a daily basis. This unique project gives officers the chance to experience confrontational situations in a safe environment, before they go on to the wing. Post-Covid, we hope to see the project rolled out further across the Prison Service.
